Optimistic by nature and happiest around good people, I believe everyone has a story and more importantly, everyone longs to be heard.

As a kid with selective mutism, dogs gave me safety. Now, as the Executive Director of an animal shelter, I get to be their voice, just as they were mine for so many years.

People often ask: Why 13? It's a nod to my late grandfather, "Pa", his birthday was May 13th.

As for why I wanted to share these patio stories? Simple. I hope they remind you that you're not alone and that a big part of life is what we make of it.
